After his national service in 1991, Gustaf studied at Potchefstroom University for Higher Education. He received his masters degree in 2000 and have been in private practice for sixteen years. In 1997 he finished his internship at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria after which he was offered a post. From 1998 to 2003 he acted as consultant clinical psychologist training and supervising psychology interns at the adolescent unit and the adult unit. He also lectured at the Pretoria School of Medicine. He qualified as a NLP and Neurosemantics Master practitioner in 2001. From 2003 to 2010 he consulted, coached and trained in the private sector. From 2010 he returned to full time to private practice. In 2016 he finished his post-graduate diploma (2013-2016) in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the International Masterson Institute based in New York, USA. His private practice is situated in Wapadrand, Pretoria. In the mornings he consults at Denmar Psychiatric Hospital and on Friday afternoons he does sessions at a doctor’s practice in The Reeds, Centurion.
